I can go through the DVD Shrink process ok its only when Nero kicks in it will stop burning and say that its because of an invalid block address or else says cannot connect to trf or just says burning process failed.

I have been able to copy about 5 DVDs successfully before this problem occured i would be extremely greatfull to whoever can help me with this problem

Hello.

That's a really old version of Nero. You should download and run the Nero 6 Clean Tool. Be sure to write down your program serial number.

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecker.html
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

Then download and install version 6.6.0.18 from the site below:

Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Edit: Add

It would be helpful if you would post the last section of your Nero History file located in this path:

Program Files > Ahead > Nero > NeroHistory

Each section begins with a Nero Burning ROM header followed by your name and program serial number. Be sure to delete the name and serial number before posting. The log will help us identify any other problems such as driver conflicts, bad media, out of date firmware, etc.

Hello again.

You need to edit out your program serial number from your post. It begins 1C....... Just click the pencil/paper icon in the upper right of your post to go into edit mode. I'll look at your log and make another post on that.

Laddtboy suggested d/l 6.6.0.18 AFTER you uninstalled Nero6 and run the clean tool, you have installed a "buggy" version of Nero7, so now you will have to uninstall, run Nero6 clean tool, run Nero7 clean tool as well, http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and if you want Nero7 then go for this version, its more stable 7.0.8.2 from here

Back again.

CdRomPeripheral : PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off

Your DMA (direct memory access) transfer mode is off on the burner. It need to be reset.

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
Click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.
Click the "+" beside IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to expand.

For each of the IDE channels, primary and secondary:
Right click on the IDE channel and select Uninstall.

Back in Device Manager:
Click the "+" beside DVD/CD-ROM Drives to expand.
Right click on the name of your burner and select Uninstall.

Restart your system.

I don't think you have a clean install of Nero and you have a version I wouldn't recommend. We need to clean this up and reinstall. Be sure to write down your program serial number before running the Clean Tool.

Download and run the Nero 6 Clean Tool:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

Download and run the Nero 7 Clean Tool:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html

For good measure download and run the Driver Clean Tool:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecke...

If yuo want to stick with Nero 7, download and install Nero 7.0.8.2 from the links below:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

There's a newer version (GD30) of firmware for your burner at the link below:

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1978

Click on the version number to download it. Double click the downloaded archive to open it. You may have to download WinRAR or WinZIP or another unarchiving program to open it. Double click the gd30.exe flasher program and proceed to flash the drive.

Nero wasn't able to specifically ID your media which is usually a problem. The firmware upodate may help. Also be sure to use good quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Fuji and Sony labeled as Made in Japan. This is an older drive so you may need to locate and use older 8X media. What brand and speed of media are you using?

You need to setup Shrink to not burn to the outer edge of the disk. In DVD Shrink under the Edit menu, select Preferences.... Next clcik the Preferences tab. In the Target DVD Size menu select Custom and enter 4350 in the mb size box.

You can also just output an ISO image file from DVD Shrink and burn that with either ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter. You can also burn with DVD Decrypter directly from DVD Shrink, just like you do with Nero.
