Hey I hope this is not to newbie for this forum, but I thought it was a bit more complex then a beginner issue. I just bought this system from tiger direct:

eMachines T6524 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz / 1GB DDR / 200GB HDD / Dual Layer DVD±RW/ Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 / Flash Media Reader / Windows XP Media Center 2005 / Refurbished Desktop PC

The first problem i had is that it would not load my Nero 6 ultra edition, infact the disk could not be read at all with out freezing the system. The computer came with a oem version of Nero 6 so i decided to use that to burn dvds as i have done many times on my old computer. I downloaded shrink and all looked well but the burned dvds were all corrupted - they were pixelated and broken like when you get a bad signal on direct tv. I removed Nero, cleaned it with the cleaner and used other burning software like clonedvd2, with the same result. I did a cursory look and some say that nvidia drivers might be the problem or there may be some other conflict. I am not even sure if there is an nvidia diver on this system, I do recall seeing that there was some kind of nvidia element in the system when i used the system info scan, not sure though. Anyway do any of you know what could be the cause of this corruption on the dvd burns? could it be media edition 2005. i would like to be able to burn my movies again. thanks in advance

jessica6,
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like the burner is going south on you or you are using really crappy blank media. Have you tried cleaning the DVD's laser. If that does not help then call TigerDirect and tell them about the problem as there hopefully is a warranty. Windows Media Center has no problem burning DVD's w/in the OS

Thanks for the response, well it could be the burner(s) but I doubt it and here is why: when I first got the computer I used the DVD burner that came with it - a Lite On something or other, the DVD burned on this drive had corruption. when I played it on a Cyberhome - which I know sucks - and that I still have it is a shame on me- however don?t let this confuse you because I also saw some of the corruption on a Panasonic DVD recorder I just bought,. Interestingly, the day after I put my Plextor 716a in the computer - In the Master position and yes I set the jumpers right - I hope. Then proceeded to make about 10 coasters- all with the same type of corruption. I am using Fuji x16 DVD+R media. This happened with both DVDRW drives - I have never had trouble with Fuji before and have had good luck with Plextor drives. I find it strange that the computer could not read my Nero 6 disk or even open it. Oh and one other thing I am not sure about this Burning Rights procedure as I have never had to deal with it before. I Had XP Home before. - Tried to install other dvd copiers as ?Administrator? but all the burns looked the same. It almost has the feel of a conflict in the hardware or the software in the system, but to be honest I have no clue. I may just return it as I feel that the issue is too deep for me to handle. Hope this additional information provides more clues, if not oh well. Thanks again.

jessica6,
Plexy's are good burner so the problem is not there and the blank media is OK. Have you gone into Device Manager to see if there are any Yellow flags present. You also could Google for a free Registry Cleaner and see if the registry has problems. If they are OK then I would just return it for a refund.

You might consider a local Mom and Pop Computer store to see what they have to offer at a competitive price

those things don't seem to be the issue but i thank you for your imput. I spoke to someone at bestbuy and they thought if media center is not installed properly it could have diver conflicts or problems, I am not sure what that is about but whatever it is it going back. thanks again

I just want to say that the Fuji media should be ok... you shouldn't get pixelations and such with that media. So the next thing would be a conflict of some sort. I would download a better version of Nero.... the OEM version suxs as I had problems with that, too! I resently bought a lightscribe BenQ 1655, external. And it raised havic on my computer so I sent it back... only to find some solutions from LightScribe.com that it was a registry entry that had to be changed and a LightScribe update in the software! But, Nero OEM also gave problems!

I first saved my serial #s and then uninstalled Nero, then did a Nero cleanup using the tools, then a registry clean, Defrag and reboot. then I installed Nero 6.6.0.18:
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
then install the NEV:
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
These are the stable versions of Nero and Nero Vission (digital).

Since doing that I have no problems now... just waiting for my replacement BenQ from Meritline.com. The encasing for the BenQ had the Prolific PL3507 chipset that was also faulty. soooooo until the drive returns ......... I can't wait! Hope this helps in some way for you. good luck.
