i tried burning the dvd using Nero but when i put the game in it takes me to the browser screen. the browser says that a playstation two disc is in the console but it wont load up and on the rare occasion when it does it freezes up and wont work....how do i fix??? any help is greatly appreciated!

Do you have Swap Magic or a modchip? You need a mod to boot PS2 backups? What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

i have a magic 3.5mod chip in my ps2 and they usually boot right up when i put the game in....however i dont know what the media id of the game is right now becuase it's currently not in my possession...is there any tips for the current information i could try? thanks again for your help

No, media ID refers to the blank DVD's your using. Reread that post and post the relevant info.

im sorry i misunderstood u..u meant what is the id of the dvds im using to burn...well the list u told me to look at says the id is CMCMAG M01 im using hte memorex DVD+R 16x speed

Well I think we have a winner. CMC Mag is horrible man, landfill discs. Most likely some 8x Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's will solve the problem.

No problem. Quality media makes a huge difference for the PS2. I'd guess at least 1/2 of all games not booting threads are due to media, maybe more.

Yup there's a sticky thread on how to rebuild games use that. That has all software links to do the whole rebuild process for big games like that and a great and easy tutorial.

I did have to rebuild a couple games when I was using RitekG05, since I switched to TY's, I haven't rebuilt a single game, plus I burn at 8x, only recommended on quality Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media.
