I just got my xbox hooked up to my media center but it won't work through my router so it has to go directly to my computer from the xbox and there is only one ethernet port in my computer so I can only have media center on my xbox or internet on my computer if I get a USB cable from my xbox to my computer would that work?

here is wht you do you need to allow the ports for the xbox to use to communicate with the media center pc these ports are turned off on your router because of the issue of hackers use that port
let me explain what to do
go to your local computer store and get a pci lan card for the computer and connect the xbox to that the network connectiong setup for the xbox should be able to pickup the xbox if not reverse the connection and connect the xbox to the lan that your internet uses and connect the internet to the new lan card simple and sweet and to the point and it works great

what i did....
I hooked my xbox up to my laptop, and shared my wireless connection on my laptop to allow my xbox to communicate with live. I then installed media center on my laptop on the first partition, so i could view all my files from my xp partition. I now have wireless internet for my xbox and media center... damn good setup without having to buy a wireless adapter.

download pargon partiton manager, enable boot manager in the install. Split your harddrive and download media center unattended from the pirate bay. You're all set.

So you're sayin that when I start up my computer it will ask me if I want to load XP or XP:MCE? Or is it like an addon of XP?

when you install pargon partion manager with boot setup, you just have to load the program, click no your primary harddisk and say resize. You then cut off 2 gigs of free space after, then you click on the free space and say convert... convert it to NTSC and apply. after restart, burn your media center dvd, insert it and boot to cd. now select the empty partition you just made out of the 2 gigs you cut out of your other, and install media center on it. now b4 you boot into windows you can select which OS you wish to load... real easy

when you install pargon partion manager with boot setup, you just have to convert it is NTSF, right? Well, for some reason it is stuck on FREE. How do I change it?
Quote: after restart, burn your media center dvd
I'm assuming this will work if I have XP:MCE onto a CD instead of a DVD, right?
