problem with psp charging

My psp for some reason will no longer charge when plugged into the data/charger cable i have connected to my PC. The orange light comes on when i plug it in but then the charge % stays at 0 however long i leave it to charge, if it is turned off or on.
i can play games for a while but then every so often the grey scren with the battery sign will come up and the psp will die of battery??

my usb/charger cable or whatever doesn't charge the psp but it provides constant power to run it, not sure why it's that way, but that's how it is, do u still have the ac charger? just use that in conjunction w/ ur data/charger cable if u'd like....i think it has to do w/ voltage.

I gotta take a psp apart later so ima look at the wiring and see if i cant find a source of the problem.

That is a really good point. I have heard lots of "war stories" of peeps psp batts dying considering we all use them so much ;)

i have the same problem as the other guy, it doesn't charge off the usb charger, well it might but if it does it's too slow to do any good, it does charger on the AC charger. perhaps if he posts back he can tell us if it charges on the normal AC adapter, and if it just doesn't work using the USB/Charger

i think it depends on how much charging you do, if you charge it all the time then i will die quickly. I charge only when needed.

yeah the AC charger used to charge the psp fully but for some reason the yellow part no longer fits into the PSP and i have no idea why. guess it must be due to the AC adaptor itself??
as this is why i encountered the problem with the USB charger!

for some reason now the USB charger seems to be charging it fully?! but thanks for all your help :)

it might just be your psp battery, it may be fried.
