what's the difference between PAL and NTSC? Does it have to do with the DVD player or where you live or something? I want to know which template to use for making vcd's and svcd's with TMPEGEnc. Thanx.

NTSC = TV system that is used in Japan, U.S., Canada and some other countries. Framerate (=how many pictures one second contains) is 29.97fps and resolution is 704x480 or so..

PAL = TV system used in Europe, framerate is 25fps and resolution is 704x576

And this depends totally on your source material -- if your DVD is NTSC, use NTSC template and if it is PAL, use PAL.
