Ritek/Ridata DL DVD-R problems with nero 6

when opening an iso compilation(game backup) with Nero and inserting the disk I get an auto set speed at 12x when the blank media is supposed to be 4x. I wouldn't have cared about that but when I try to burn the comp. I get the error that the disks are not multisession disks, which I beleive means that they are not Dual Layer, but if I click on the disk info button that Nero burning rom has, it recognizes the disk as (DVD-R DL). I just bought the disks from supermediastore.com and I am thinking about returning them, but I wanted to check with some experts and find out if I am just overlooking a setting option in Nero Burning ROM 6. Thanks for all your help in advance!

You wouldn't have better luck with another brand discs, but you may get by with the Ritek's. In the future I would avoid the DL discs. You definately don't want to use Nero for DL burns. Here is a guide using PgcEdit and Imgburn, much better at handling the layer break.

Thought it might be helpful to know that I have succesfully burned backups on dl dvd+r's but my box didn't recognize them so I had hoped that it would recognize the -r's, hope that helps.

I also should say that I can put smaller backups on regular dvd-r's and they work great, but I am having problems with these larger backups. If I do return these should I trade them in for Taiyo Yuden +r's?(Is the compatibilty of these discs more widely accepted than Ridata?)

Hey Loco,
I just tried to burn the already compiled iso(used C-xbox tool 2) with imgburn and i received an error:

Failed to Reserve Track!

Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

Is it referring to the file or the media?

Tried the verbs(+r's), weren't compatible with my drive, but I was able to burn them.

This is a media error...what is your current firmware version? An update could remedy some of the compatability problems you are having. It should be KY06 and can be found here:

Also, your drive should support both formats SL and DL:
