I just got a psp and im sorry if this isnt suppose to be asked here or has already been asked.....but...
Does it matter what version of GTA:LCS I have? I keep hearing that I need an old version but I just bought mine today and tried to do the easy down grade program....but no luck.
Please send me some links if you can...or just some advice

It has to be the unpatched version. What version of firmware did it need to run.
2.0 = unpatched
2.6 = patched

also be aware that your psp is not the TA-082 (IC1003) psp as it is not downgradable as of this writing and you may end up in bricking your psp.
before using the downgrader try some homebrew via gta exploit first.
get the old GTA LCS.

I was gonna ask, do I need to downgrade to use emulators like the snes emulators and scummvm, or can i bypass that using the eloader on gta? I got the impression that it had to be 1.5 in order to use any emulators...unless 2.6 runs all homebrew apps but no emus.
Also, is there anyway to tell what GTA umd is the right one? Cause I have a friend at gamestop who would probably let me look at through the used ones to see which one I need. Ive seen just text umd cases where mine has a picture.

Check here, www.fanjita.org, it has the GTA loader which i think you dont like? anyways thats the only method for 2.6 users to have homebrew.
Try downloading if you dont have the bad mobo.

well the TA mobo prevents downgrading,
i got the expression that you dont want the eLoader
which is the only way to get homebrew on a 2.6 psp/

Im a little confused, but thanks for everything you guys have been doing.
Ill just tell you what ive done so far:
1. Bought a psp 2.01 and upgraded to 2.6, bought the 512 mb and my version of gta.
2.I tried to do the Downgrader2.50-2.60ENFULL prorgam. it seemed like it was going ok but it loaded up the game and not the eloader program I thought it was going to. It showed all the files on my psp homepage.
3.Tryed snes9xTYL-0[1].4.2-src, it showed the file and wallpaper but when I tried it said corrupted data and didnt go.
4. I also tried the manual downgrade but it didnt seem to go as well...
