Right, i wont lie, i know little to nothing about burning Ps2 games.But my mate does, and he does it well(at least used to). hes successfully burned around 6-7 games for me i nthe past using Nero (dno what version), but recently theres a trend occuring.I use swap magic 3.6, the will encounter one or more of the following problems: games generally boot up alot slower then they should,then starting FMVS a stuttery, or moving from scene to scene takes around 3 mins (which happened in an Rpg, so you can imagine how annoyign it is with random battles!:P)
So I searched here,decided it was the DVDs fault.Ive used 3 different types and had same problems.So im convinced its not the Dvd and from what i read here its not the lens because original copies work perfect.
So now i come to my question (finally). In the past my friend would let the games burn and leave his comp alone for the time it took,but with a new GFX card he can play games while burning and as far as i can tell,my problems only arose when his GFX card was installed.So what i was wondering (along with any other solutions) is could the burnign being affected due to him playing games and using more resources then b4?

multitasking is not something i try to do to often,as this can affect the buffer whilst burning causing it to fail
however,if it completes,then it should be ok
all you can do,is to try the same game,using one of the same disks,and ask your mate to leave the pc alone whilst doing so
yeah i asked about that, my discs are 8x but my friends burner, altho claims to be a 16x speed, will only burn at 2.4x regardless of the program he uses. So i may as well ask on his behalf, any idea whats going on?
2.4x is probably better then 4x speed for games anyway?
Must be his burners firmware. Get him to get the latest firmware for his drive. It could solve the problem. If not.. and everything works at 2.4x, then by all means don't mess with it.
Could be a lot of things. What's the Media ID of the discs you're using? I realize you've had similar problems with three different brands, but it doesn't matter if the quality blows on all of them. If you have the money, save up and get a burner. Don't count on others to do what you can do yourself. BenQ burners are very good quality, and can be had for $30 or so. With quality media and a decent burner, you'll have your backups working in no time. There's backup guides in my sig for the most commonly used software for PS2 backups.

If he can only burn at 2.4X then update the firmware. This could be causing the problem as that is a bit slow for an 8X DVD.
But try all the idea mentioned as that will be the only way to narrow it down and start making good back ups.
