i got this castlevania s.o.t.n. file and it is in img file. can i burn it to a cd and play in my ps2. thanks.

yes only if your PS2 have a modchip(check to see if your modchip can automatically detect psone format) or bootcd that allows playing PSX cds, one that just runs PS2 games won't work.

i try to burn it with Nero and using the buring image file selection. and it wouldn't play in my ps2. i think my ps2 can play ps game (backup copy), because i have a ps game(backup copy) from a friend and it play perfectly on my ps2, i just have to hit the reset button twice and it will play. i try to put both my backup copy and the one given by me friend into my cd drive and the file seem to be different. why???

Dontcha just love people who hijack other people's threads? Especially when they ask questions that have nothing to do with the topic, and have been asked plenty times before!

Yes, you can, but you have to extract the files from the ps2cd and patch the media checks in the SYSTEM.CNF, IOP files & the SLES/SLUS file to DVD, then rebuild the image. You'll also need to put in a dummy file somewhere, or create a false TOC through LBA positioning of the 1st file, so that it's treated as a DVD image, instead of a cd image by your rebuilding/burning software.

yes i am using a cd-rw, because i don't want to waste a cd if it doesn't work, does it really matter if i am using a cd-rw or a cd-r to burn the image file.

yes it does ps2 doesn't read cd-rw and DVD-RW it bad for the lens.
you have to burn it to a cd-r to work.
