Apparently Sony has hosed all Devhook distributing on PSP-Hacks.com

As stated in the news on their main site.

http://www.psp-hacks.com/2006/08/02/legal-problems-for-devhook/#c...
Quote:
Well, Sony has given a cease and desist order to pspsoftware.ddo.jp (the release site for DevHook) regarding distribution of DevHook.

Translation by 0okm:

?Reboot_1.50.bin is the copyrighted material by SONY, that is mixed with DevHook0.43fix. Warning from SCE to those who up-load DevHook0.43fix comes. Moreover, please annul it at once when downloaded 0.43fix is preserved at hand, and it uses it. Not seeing this knows and there is a possibility to use, too. Please inform me of this when there is an owner in surroundings. Moreover, the main body of DevHook and the relation file of all versions were deleted from this site. As a result, opening DevHook on this site to the public is completely stopped.?

Sony has also requested pspsoftware.ddo.jp to notify them when Booster is online. (So they want to talk, ehhh??)

Now don?t go crying that DevHook won?t be getting updated anymore. We aren?t sure yet.

DevHook doesn?t look like it?s going anywhere. But we?ll just have to wait and see what Booster says and what Sony does.

Apparently they want to crack down on all emulators before 3.0 comes out. I doubt this will stop anyone though, as there are thousands of hackers to pick up where Booster left off...but it does make everything hairy...post ur thoughts on the matter, lets hope for the best. Any news on the matter, feel free to add here.

Booster won't be stopped. His site just got a C&D, not himself.

i suggest everyone download as much useful progs as they can now.

i aint even got a version to run it, but ive got devhook and various other tools kept safe in a little folder of stuff :P

such a shame there isnt more communication with the people who code the stuff people are using on their psp, see if we still have talented people working tiredlessly trying to keep up with sonys endless battering of its consumers well deserved freedoms - and togther, help projects like devhook live on

at least until i get myself on 1.5 :P

thats an easy one :P will just have to make sure a pack of 'homebrew goodies' or whatever gets put together in a cosy, well documented and well compressed rar/zip file ends up on torrent sites ^_^ sony cant get its own movie/music releases off torrents, probably wont have too much luck with something like that neither! bwhaha.

No it's not. Booster's not doing anything illegal. He's just supplying a program but there's nothing illegal or copyrighted in the files except for the rare exception of the .43 fix.

dang.. this'll sure bung a bit of a spanner in the works.
As long as booster understands that websites arnt the only way to distribute though we should be fine.
As a point of courtesy though I think we should all take the focus off booster, for his sake. Afterall he's just the brains behind the masterpiece, we're the ones distributing it. if anything sony should be coming after us.

If anyone needs devhook stuff, i got it all, pm me.
sony, eat my balls

It just says dev 43, so does that mean 44,45,46 are ok? He didnt do anything wrong and they cant do nothing to him. They are just p!$$ed...($0ny).. Look at all the firmware updates and their new features, those features were all home brew before sony tried to act like they had the idea to include it..

That will be a joke, booster should just make devhook without the intergrated reboot 1.50.bin in it. And leave that for the users to acqire

Yea, that would work...I suppose Sony is having a huge sale loss because of Devhook. Not saying their sales were that good to start out with, if they just put more time into making decent games that people would actually want to own, let alone fire share over the internet, they would have no problem with meeting their quota. Sony is one of the largest entertainment companies and for them to attack Booster is hilarious...but hey, where Booster leaves someone will defiantly take his spot.
