Hi, I have searched first but did'nt find anything.
I want to know if anyone apart from me, does anyone realy enjoy the C&C red alert series, in particular Yuri's Revenge.
I know it is an old game, but that does'nt matter.
I like being an old timer.
Does anyone have any good tactics for official maps?
Because the ones I have are nearing their retirement, as people are wising up to them.
My favourite map is "Offence Defence" because it is close range, and fast, forcing continuous battle.
Another thing, why is it that some people in the game dont like players playing as Yuri or France, I mean, its part of the game and people should be able to choose the country/team they want.
I find that Yuri is the weakest team in the game.
Current Tactics:
1.On the map "Offence Defence" set credits to 5000, mcv repacks off, crates appear off, super weapons off, crates appear off, short game on, unit count 0, game speed full, deploy build power plant and War fac, make about 5 engineers put in ifv's or flak track escort them with a few tanks to enemies base and capture and sell.
That tactic works %80 off the time.
But as usual players are wising up to it and finding ways around it.
Anyone got any better tactics?
I know there are websites out there with tactics but none of them are good.
First Time I have actualy posted in the Games Section, glad to see I am expanding beyond the p2p, safety valve and all topics section:)

Man that game may be the best game ever made. IMO. Red alert 2 was i think the first real game i have ever bought. And man i loved it!
Shame i lost it :(
I sometimes try and look for it but never find it.
Shame. I get cravings sometimes. As for tactics. I think mine were.
Id make a fake base. with say one oil refinery and one power station but moved apart.
Then go to corner of the map and just make an army and then attack everyone. Most importantly thought is you dont attack everyone at the same time. attack them with your army one by one!!
Lol man its bringing back memorys!!

Nice idea, its a shame you lost your game, but the games dead cheap now just go out and buy it again, you can get it now for like £5's now.
I would realy laugh if you bought the game again and then found your old one.

I love that game. I like to focus on resources, have a gathering point for my army that is away from my base, set up a few outposts with a barracks, a few turrets, a couple tesla coils/prism towers, and possibly a patriot or flak cannon. While Im preparing my army, I send out a few small squads of tanks to keep them busy and if I have snipers, hide them outside the endmies base with some mirage tanks. My favorite map is definitly bay of pigs. Did you ever try the skrimish pack mod? Its a cool mod that adds 20 or so modes for skrimish. You should try it.

Hey, "Bay of Pigs", beutifull map, popular amongst other players aswell.
The Designer of Bay of Pigs has to be a genius.
Anyway this mod thing for skirmish you speak of, where can i get it?
And I am speaking of tactics when playing against Humans, and to a lesser exten AI.

do you have the two generals games? If you dont, I suggest you get the first decade. It has every command and conquer game there is and the old ones work on windows xp. Ive seen it for $30 US but not sure how much youll be able to find it in Euro. I suggest you look on Ebay.

Heres a tactic i like to use for most RTS games i don't know if it will work on Yuri's revenage i can't remember playing it although i probably have :)
Ok so build up however you want in whatever order you want but try to do it as fast as possible. When you have a considerable ammount of troops take some and locate their HQ, centre or whatever. Now you know were it is your aim is to draw as many troops and units away from it as possible. What i like to do is send some strong units to the side or above their HQ and they will start trying to attack you then, sent those units away and hopefully they will give chase, when they are a good distance away send in your main units to attack the HQ and all important building around it, do as much damage as possible and when the troops that are chasing the decoy units start turning around to come back to defend the HQ turn the decoy units around and start attacking them.
I use that tactic alot and is usally very effective :)
For more infomation about how to pwn at C&C please visit and watch Pure Pwnage : www.purepwnage.com
Its accutally not got a lot to do with c&c but is still pretty good show and i've no doubt you'll love it if you play c&c

Nice, Ofolion, those are the kind of things I am looking for.
I usualy play with my friend we play as a team, so the distraction and invasion thing is will be easy, or so I think, I will give your plan a go.
You know on fast build maps, I have this tactic of playing as France build all the way up near to the enemies HQ and then buil Grand Cannons and blow the **** out of your enemy.
I love that old trick.
But whats even better is when you basewalk with soviets, build and carrying on building nuclear power plants all the way up to your enemies base and if your fast go into the heart of his base, and you will find if your opponent is a noob or just plain stupid they blow up the nuclear reactor destroying half their own base.
if they are smart and send engineers in to capture them blow them up yourself, if you hold Ctrl and fire you can target your own units and buildings.

Hey!!
Good news just bought red alert 2. Im hunting down yuris revenge on ebay but its practicallt the same game in most aspects.
It borught back my old tactics the best ones being:
1/ Get 2 aircontrols. Get 8 planes. Then by pressing CTRL + 1 make them "Squadron 1." You then use "Squadron 1" NOT FOR BASEBOMBING!! You use squadron one for ore miner bombing, You should find 8 planes take an ore miner out in shot. No problem!!! So that way you STOP there cash flow!!
2/ Spys!! Get them everywhere! Put them in ore refinerys. Put them in barracks. Put them in war factorys. If your running out of cash just send as many spys into everyones base ore refinerys.
3/ I like to call this the kamazazee repair dudes! Well basically you get a whole lot of engineers. 5 usually does. And just send them into a base capturing all they can. Then just sell everything they capture!
4/ Be france!! The grand canyons are simply the best defence! 3 of them and invasion is soo unlikely!
!!
Hpe that helps!

Nice tactics, you should get Yuri's Revenge aswell, very good.
Your tactics are a bit outdated, though, no offence.
About the sqaudren thing, I love that I usualy go for up to ten sqaudrens, each number with upto eight planes, then bomb there base simutaniously.
I send the first few sqaudrens after a few of the power plants and thee next few after mcv's and service depo's.

When I have enough resources, I like to build up around 20 fighters and tehn send them straight for the construction yard, and the repair depot if they have one. After that I can just take my time destroying their barracks and war factory.

Lol, you'll find if you use all the shortcuts you'll be able to go so much faster and have such a edge on your enemy that you can usually just outnumber them sometimes, if you currently don't use the shortcuts its time to start getting your micro on!!!

Im suprised Red Alert 3 is coming so early. We know very little about it right now. C&C 3 is looking awesome. It will be the best RTS ever. It looks like it might even be better than Supreme Commander.

Lol i set up my own short cuts usually :P I like to have the number keys bind and snap to a unit/group. Space to return to base/HQ and then set up like "M" for mechanics or "S" for spaceport "B" for bunker etc. You should see some of the videos of people using the shortcuts there so amazing...theres this TV show in Korea were they have like a leaderboard and they battle it out to be the champion of games, its pretty amazing they have like standard computer but mouse/keyboard of choosing and a random game is selected and they just battle it out, its so amazing the speed of those guys. The last level on StarCraft to those guys is as easy as counting to 10...
Here look at this bloody amazing: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-6648934043675888354&q=...
Hear those keys tapping? SHORTCUTS!!

WTF!!!
Dude EA have ripped of this mod:
http://reloaded.cncguild.net/
If i weres everyone copy your game dir. Then paste it and rename it as something like Red alert 2 Modded.
Then what ya do is extract the contents of the mod rar package to your Red alert 2 Modded game dir. Then just place a shortcut of that game dir on your desktop!
Seriously read josh99's link. (Nice link BTW) Then download this mod!
Lecsiy!
OOO by the way when i say mod. Its not really a mod as such its basically a new game with the same game engine.
Just try it!! Why not eh!
