well i do not have one and i was woundering if i was fucked with out it and im trying to unlock my X Xbox but i cant with out it and i dont want to buy a mod chip and the reason i want to know if i need it is im trying to hot swap it and i read all the Tuts BUT not one says how well one does The thing that Cdoge said and i tried it and i cant get it to Error 11 screen so can someone plzzzz help me

and can i just use one of my friends eeprom from there HDD?

one more thing my other friends xbox will not display nothing the rung if light blinks on then off then back on and then starts blinking red and green!

Your friends xbox has a hardware failure. It is either a bad chip install, failed chip or your xbox is bricked! Check for solder or if solderless take out the chip and see if it works! Its called a FRAG (FlashingRedAndGreen).
