For a couple of years now I have had problems playing PC-copied DVD's. The DVD's play fine on my PC (on which they were copied) but not so fine on my TV DVD players.

I have used CloneDVD, DVDSanta & Nero with exactly the same results. I use DVD+RW discs.

I have tried three different DVD players: Sanyo, Samsung and now Sony, and the problem persists.

I copy at the slowest possible speed and I have tried at least 4 different brands of DVD, including BenQ, Verbatim, Sony and Laser.

Sometimes and for a while the copied DVD plays okay but shortly the picture begins to break up or it sticks, and sometimes it won't play at all. If I then copy the DVD that doesn't play back to my PC and then copy that back to a fresh DVD, it works...for a while. It is as though the copied data deteriorates over time, but sometimes recopied DVD's also break up quite soon after being copied.

I am wondering if it might be my DVD drive. Presently I am using a basic LG brand.

Do you think the problem might resolve itself if I purchased an ultra high quality DVD drive for my PC?

If so, can you recommend one and provide one for me?

Thanks for your help.

It could be a bit of everything. Try updating firmware. Also try burning @ rated speed or @8X maximun. If your drive can booktype, buy DVD+R media. If not, buy -R media. Finally, the problem could be your DVD players. Old players have some issues with recorded media.

DVD burners are cheap right now. I think you can easily find a good affordable drive. My choice would be a Benq 1650 (or 1655 with lightscribe). Other drives to consider are NEC, Pioneer, Plextor or LiteOn.

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?
