Quick question about burning speed

As the most common recommendation about speed when burning a PS2 backup on a DVD seems to be to burn it at half the disc's maximum speed, I was wondering if the same applies to CDs. I'm about to burn a couple of PS1 backups - should I burn them at a minimum speed, say, 8x, or should I just burn them at 24x, about half the disc's speed?

It doesnt really matter for cd. And this has been covered before. Try looking for info before posting in future.
