That didn't seem like a workable solution to me either. Why for example would you need to enter the serial for the different components? Seems to me that they should register themselves when you enter your serial the first time.
Have you tried running Nero's registry checker and Driver cleaner tools? I'd try that as it only takes a few seconds.
