yea i just downloaded this ff7 for ps1, but the cds are in different parts. The part extensions are 001, 002,and 003. i dont know what do do with these, either just burn it or merge together with a program?

Might help if you read some of the sticky topics in the PS2 forums. There's one in the PS2 DVD backup discussion forum that addresses this very, commonly, asked question.

you need 7zip to extract those type of files (i just found this out recently).

If that doesn't work try WinRAR but I doubt it wouldn't.
