I'm suspicious of any consumer product that comes from China. Of course, that's difficult to avoid entirely, but whether it will last any length of time is just as important a question as whether or not it will work.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
i bought one, but it doesn't show any video file i put in the HDD player. so i thought i need to do some converting so it work, nothing still. do u know if i need to do anything for it to get it working?
I don't know specifically, and you didn't mention what you put in it, but it could be a compliance problem. I googled the HDD player before I replied last night and I found that it is sort of like a device that plugs into a TV or monitor and plays DVDs, DivX, MP3s, etc. correct? If so, try something (relatively) easy like a sample MP3 or a DVD. If that plays, you know the thing basically works. If you're trying to play a DivX or MPEG-4 file right off the bat, there's lots that can go wrong.

Check to see if the MP3s are encoded with a Variable Bit Rate - lots of devices don't support VBR for some reason. If you have Winamp, just play one on your PC and see if the bitrate changes. If so, it's a VBR; if not, it's Constant bitrate. CBR should play in anything that supports MP3. If that doesn't work, it's almost certainly a problem with the HDD Player.
