Is there anything that I can download free that will permit me to upload my DVDs to AVI, MPEG or other manable files ? Thanks in advance

For freeware, you could try Media Coder:

http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

But my experience has been that the outcome is not as good as the commercial programs.

Alternatively, you may find some programs that have a trial period.

Infinite thanks. The mediacoder worked great. I used a decrypter to upload, mediacoder to convert. Now it's 5 segments. How do I make those 5 segments 1 complete concert ? Also, is there an easier way I could have done this ? Thanks again

What type of files should I save these as. I originally save them as AVI with the Decrypter. That's the only option that it offered. When I have found no software that will merge these files into one. The AVI SPlitter/Joiner doesn't even read the files. I've tried using a mediacoder to save the files as MPEG2, MPEG4/DIVX, ECT... and use the combimovie software to combine the fiels and it still won't accept the files. Any advice ? Thanks in advance

AVI and mpeg are both common video formats to work with. Do you have all the necessary codecs?
