Getting desparate. How to brighten AVC videos?

Here's the deal:

I'm using PSP Video 9 to convert a VOB file to AVC file format to play on the PSP.

However, the avc file produced, while much nicer at the same bitrate and filesize than an mp4 file would be, is way too dark. Not only is it hard to see, but this also leads to ghosting. Really bad ghosting.

Increasing the color brightness of the avc file would fix this very easily.

However, I can't find a single application that does this. Can anybody help me out here?

um... im not sure there is one :(

mayb play the video in the dark and use psp backlight? :p

No, because ghosting is still a problem. This is a problem inherent to the video.
