I have DVD Decrypter on my computer and had a few questions to ask about burning them
-When I movies from DVD Decrypter they come out at 7.3 GB, but the DVD-R only holds 4.35, so obviously it won't let me burn it to the dvd. Are games smaller?
-Do I need a modchip to play burned games because I don't want to mess up my ps2 by trying to install a modchip by myself?
yes most games are smaller only a handful are bigger (a.k.a. DVD9, dual layer.) mod chip is the easiest way but you can also use swap magic with flip top, slide card, magic keys etc..

A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Maxell High Grade (DVD+R's). The PS2 laser is picky, these are the only three types of media you should trust for maximum reliability and compatibility with your PS2. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/262544 If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. I only burn to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. So far I've never had a lag, skip, freeze, or boot failure since I switched to Taiyo Yuden's. With results like that, why would I use anything else? The brand of media you use means very little.

A. Yes- You cannot boot PS2 backups without a modification, either a software mod or hardware mod!!! Do not ask about this in the forums!!!
how hard is it to install a modchip? I do not know a thing about electonics. I just don't want to mess up my ps2, since I just spend 140 dollars on it!
If you've never soldered before and you're not skilled with electronics, you don't want to try to install a chip. Modding a PS2 isn't that easy, there's 18-20 solder points right along the mobo, even professional installers have to take care when installing. Your best bet would be to send it to a pro, http://www.teammodders.com modded my PS2 and Xbox, along with several people I know. They do fantastic work. The best three chips for the PS2 are the Matrix Infinity Green Dot, DMS 4 Pro SE, and Crystal Chip 1.1 with 128kB flash. A good chip+installation+shipping will run you around $115. Read my modchip FAQ for more info. Some sections are highly technical and difficult to understand. Don't worry about that, just look over the general stuff and see if a modchip is right for you.
