I'm capturing dvd ready MPEG2 with my hardware encoding WinTv PVR2. I've used Arcsoft Showbiz to make dvds with mpg2 before and it's really quick. However recently, its transcoding (essentially an uneccesary step with mpg2 to dvd right?) the files which takes forever. Any advice to make the conversion without having to take forever(like it has in the past)? Or any FREEWARE simple (NOOB simple)DVD authoring software where I can take the mpg2's, make a simple menu, and author the DVD?
Ok a couple questions Cougar.
First of all, when I change the encoding quality (high,med,low) the displayed size of the dvd doesn't change. (listed at bottom left of screen) For example I inserted 12 mpeg1's. The "size on media" it displayed would be 6.5 GB. So I lowered the encoding quality to low. The size still said 6.5GB. What gives?
From what I was explained, if you add several input files, and choose Low / Medium quality, it will just be a little faster.
Personally, I keep it on HIGH all the time.
If the size of the output didn't change, I assume ConvertXtoDVD has already provided you with the MAX output bitrate it can from those files, even if you go from Medium to High.
On real good quality input files, my output in about 8300 kb/s.
The more files you add, the lower the bitrate will be, since it needs to reduce the bitrate to make sure your output will fit on a DVD5 (If you have selected DVD5 as the output).
