Illegal disc
Looks like your burner isn't recognizing the new DVDs you bought. You firmware is the last one offered but that was Sept 04! The burner might not be able to handle those X16 discs.

Hi islandboi
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news on the 20 bucks spent- but those discs are made by one of the worst:
Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AM3
Better would be Verbatim or made in japan Fuji, Sony (usually made by Taiyo Yuden).

Your firmwawre is up to date too.

Update Nero to this version 6.6.0.18 - here's some links:
Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2 (recode & vision)

512mb would be better. Add more if you can. In the mean time keep as much free as possible. No multi tasking and shut down any unnecessary processes.

What are your trying to burn?

Try some another brand of media 8x if you can get it. A friend of mine has this drive and they have not been able to burn 16x media on it because of the lack of firmware updates. They ordered some 8x Taiyo Yudens from supermediastore and they work. My friend had to give me their 16x Verbatims because they would not burn.

What's the file format? Like is it an iso or a video_ts folder?

We can try another option in Express or another program and see if that makes a diff. Failing the video compliance might make them unplayable in some dvd players.

Where did you by the discs from - maybe returnable (I still would though).

editted to add: arniebeqr - not a bad deal for you! I always get the bad ones given too me ;)

If you have a Best Buy near you, check out this sale, look for the Made in Japan spindles, they are Taiyo Yuden 8X disks in disguise, I love them when I can find them

They are from the video_ts movie files. I've burnt other dvds from generic cd's and they worked and although they failed the compliance test they work in my players. I have to agree by burner is crap. Hmmm....i bought the dvd from future shop.
