Is there a facility/menu/button/etc in IFOEDIT which shows me which titleset is pointed to (played) when I press the play button, either on the remote, or when I choose "Play" from the root menu?
I have a DVD which I've ripped to my HD and have done the normal things I know of in IFOEDIT to stip out stuff I don't want, but when I press play, what gets played is VTS_02_xx which is this long advertisement. It then plays the main movie which is VTS_01_xx.
Here's what I'd like to be able to do... Remove VTS_02_xx VOBs all-together, and point the play button directly at the first titleset VTS_01_xx VOBs. So when I press "play" from the root/title menu, it'll play the main movie VTS_01_xx VOBs, which are hopefully chained together.
I sorta know my way around IFOEDIT enough to be dangerous and have been able to do VOB ID, lang menu, and other stripping, but I don't know if it allows you to do re-authoring like this. Does it?
Thanks very much in advance to all you good folks.
There most certainly is! You can change the title pointed to, say if you have your DVD on two disks and want the second disk to play immediately without going through its menu!
This will give you the 'know how':
Adjust the start point of the 2nd chapter
Perhaps you're thinking "wouldn't it be nice if upon inserting the 2nd disc in the player the movie would go on automatically and I wouldn't have to go through all the menus again?". And it's not only nice but possible with a little extra work:
Load VIDEO_TS.IFO of the 2nd disc in IfoEdit and locate the title which contains the main movie.
Next go to VMGM_MAT and locate the First Play PGC in the upper part of the IfoEdit window.
Then locate the Pre Commands in the lower part of the window.
Select the first Pre Command and right click and select Edit Command.
Select the (Jump_TT) Jump to Title command and select the title number of the main movie, then press OK.
Oriphus... first, thanks very much for your reply. What you'd written was definitely something I didn't know about IFOEDIT. It was excellent information.
As great the information was, it still didn't address my original question though. What you told me was how to make it so when I put the DVD into the player, the main movie (titleset 1) plays.
What I wanted to find out was how to edit the "ACTION" of the play button so that titleset 1 is played, instead of any other titleset. So, not just when you put the DVD into the player... but when the DVD is already in the player, and let's say you're perusing the title menu, when you press play, titleset 1 gets played. Right now, with the particular DVD, when you press play, titleset 2 gets played, then it's chained to titleset 1 and that gets played. I want to be able to completely re-route the play button to titleset 1 and bypass the playing of titleset 2 all-together.
Is there a trick in IFOEDIT which allows me to change which titleset is played when the PLAY button is pressed?
Thank you again for all your replies. It's because of folks like yourselves that this forumm prospers.
One other thing about IFOEDIT... I tried what Oriphus suggested just to check it out and made the change. I pressed "Save" to save the .IFO file and it said it saved it. But when I tried to exit it keeps giving me "Some files have changed, exit anyway?" dialog box. No matter how many times I save, I still get the same dialog box.
Oriphus, is there a particular sequence I'm supposed to follow after the changes you'd suggested for saving my work? I've saved every single .IFO file and it still gives me the same message that some files remain changed, and supposedly un-saved.
What you are doing is right. Im not sure why that box is coming up all the time on you. Instead of giving you the answers, ill go one better and supply you the guide i sued to learn it myself.
Some of what i had writtne previously came from this guide:
Well, guess what... setting the 1st Pre Command in the First Play PGC section of VIDEO_TS.IFO to jump to titleset 1 seemed to have had a dual effect.
Not only does it automatically play titleset 1 (the main movie) when the DVD is first placed into the player, but it now also plays the main movie when I press PLAY!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEE!!!
This is almost what I wanted, but it will definitely do just fine. What I wanted was to get the menu when I first place the DVD into the player, then when I press play, it would play the main movie titleset 1. But this will do just fine. As long as when I press PLAY the main movie plays, I could care less if it automatically plays when I first put the DVD into the drive.
Thanks again to Oriphus and the others for their words of advice.
