Does anyone know if only the 360's with the Hitachi DVD drive get the ring of death? Has anyone had problems with the Samsung? My 360 has the Hitachi drive, I was wondering if I could replace it with a Samsung and if it would work. please help.

no you cannot replace the drive because the drive is signed to the console you can only replace the drive with the same thing sorry

and the ring of death is not caused by a cd drive it is caused by a bad power cell and worse it will cost you 250.00 for a new one

if you backup the key from your hitachi and reflash the samsung using your key on the firmware you want to use it will work fine to switch them. but the key has to be extracted from your old hitachi if ya cant get the key then it is no use to try.
