I got it from a friend and he doesn't know if it is jap,eu or us.Is there a way to find out it's area?

I am asking this because it's version is 1.52 and I want to downgrade it to 1.50.

Can anyone help me please?
Thank you very much!

it doesnt really make a difference where its from if the psp is in english then its a US one. Jap is jap psp of course. upgrade to 2.0, then downgrade with this file make sure to read the instructions.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/3
and u will also need the 1.5 eboot.

Thank you so much for such a quick reply!!

It is in English(the menus) but was bought in China.

So what you are saying is that it doesn't matter if I upgrade using a us or a Japanese 2.0 firmware?

Please reply to this last one too.
Thank you again very much!!

I belive you have to use region specific updates. The just change language again. Do that for safety reasons

It really doesnt matter actually when 2.0 first came out they first released the update for JAP psp's and I used the jap eboot. Still in english. Use the US version and you'll be doubly safe.

So what upgrade do I have to use?

And do I need a specific area 1.50 upgrade as well after I downgrade to 1.00?

Thank you in advance.

Just get the one I linked you to above. It's fine for use. As I have used it on many psp's.

For 2.0 its a tiff exploit that flashes index.dat to change the version to 1.00 enabling you to run the 1.5 eboot.

Yeah it doesnt matter what region firmware you use they are all the same.

Its the IdStorage data on the JPN psp which reads the firmware and selects wether such things like ptv icon should be shown, same goes for the X/0 buttons.

Ok then I will try the us 2.00 upgrade and post the results!
This will not brick it right?

Also I wanted to tell you thatwhen I inserted a game (mercury I think) there was an option that read "upgrade firmware" or something along this words. Will this work or should I stick to the memery stick method(I got a 2 giga one)

Thanks again!
