Hi waha19
The illegal disc error you are getting is more than likely due to the media you are using - Prodis - cF02 which is 16x media.

Since this is an older drive - 4x max burn speed and the last firmware update was 9/2004 using 16x media is going to cause problems for this drive.

Better for this drive would be 8x or lower (if you can find it) Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.

Everything looks okay in the log.

Try the different media and let us know how that goes - good, bad or otherwise.

Try the 4x burn speed, I have this drive and it will do Fuji 16x, which code as Prodisc cF02 media at 4x. It does not know what the rated speed is but it does recognize the media.

Edit: I have burned these and the backups have come out fine, and my fw is 1.0b which was the last that NEC has for it.

If the above advice fails, uninstall Nero 7.2.3.2, run the clean tool,http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and install this more stable version of Nero, 7.0.8.2 from here

http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

Unfortunately I cannot recommend 7.2.3.2 on my experiences with it.

@waha19
Try arniebears suggestion of taking the burn speed up from 2.4x to 4x on this media and see if that's does the trick for you.

@arniebear
The firmware page shows the last one as 1.OC - think taking it down to 1.OB might help?

I do not think it is a Nero version problem since these same discs burn fine to the external fine.
Your errors to me are due more to an older drive w/ the last firmware update from 9/2004 and 16x media.
Burning Rom is one of the apps that has been doing pretty good for me in this version.

What DVD-R (brand & rated burn speed) were you using before you reformatted?

@binkie

The 1.0b is NEC's last official fw for this burner. The 1.0c is, I believe, a hacked fw version. I have hesitated to take it to the 1.0c because the burner works fine on most media. The only problem I had was with Imation CD's that are rated 52x. It is an old burner and I figure I will use it until it dies, which it does not really want to do, lol.

Had this problem for several months -

Solution -> Uninstalled latest version of Nero
-> Reinstalled Nero 6.0.0.0.0 Ultra
-> Patched my ND-1300A with Herrie = Firmware 10cf-t2.bin =

And - Bingo - all my DVDs that were showing up previously in Nero 6.1x as Max, 2.4, 2 & 1 in terms of speed - now show up as 4x and Burning is just COOOL - I think it was the updated Firmware 10cf-t2.bin - that did it. TH-14
