ok so today i just for the fun of it decided to play harry potter and the goblet of fire dvd in my 360 and to my amazment the quality was quite a bit clearer and generally looked better than my dvd player,why is this???

Most likely you're using the HD cables on your xbox360, and on your regular dvd player you dont, if you use them on both, your 360 might be running on a higher resolution than tyour dvd player.

If you're not using the HD clables, it might be the quality of the video cables.

Back when i worked for SEARS we used to show customers the difference on a dvd player working on regular RCA brand cables and Monster Cable premium cables, and it made a HUGE difference.

my dvd player uses the normal av in and out cables,the 360 uses 5 component cables and on HDTV setting,suppose that's what's making it better...lol

if i had some batteries for my dig cam i'd actually take 2 screens shots on the same paused image and show you...it's not a hell of alot better,just more defined,no bluryness and the black looks brighter...and the generall image is overall clearer than before

Your 360 does not output dvd movies in high def but the diffrence is just a component connection is alot better than composite. If you hooked up your 360 via the composite it would probably look just the same as your dvd player looks
