I recently upgraded my compy. I replaced my X850XT with an X1800XT and got an ASUS A8N-E so I could finally use SATA 3.0GB/s.
I'm about at my limit for upgrades before I explore a new platform altogether. I'm looking at AM3 or a Conroe E6600(or whatever the deuce it's called.) Gonna be exciting!
I will get the new ATi chip that comes out though. The X2800XT I think.
The new mobo overclocks just as well as my A8N5X. I get to keep my 2.6GHz without stability problems. Just reformatted and did a fresh install of Windows. New video drivers.
Finally burned all the good utility programs and files to disk:
EnditAll
CleanUp!
Daemon Tools VideoLAN
All the WinAmp skins I love.
All on one disk so I don't have to download them everytime I rebuild; which I have been doing quite often lately.
This is the third motherboard I've had in this system.*phew*
Well I don't think I could sell it to you through this forum because of security reasons. But if I had to price it I'd say about $110. It's PCI Express though. I've never used an AGP system.
I actually put it in my old Sempron 3100+ build at 2.4GHz. It needed the facelift severely. It replaced an aging X800GTO. I'd sell the X800GTO for $70 but it's also PCI Express. So if all you have is AGP then you are out of luck :(
The X2800XT? I'm thinking a decent price drop for the X1900XTX and the X2800XT being about $550.
It's gonna be my last upgrade before I get my new permanent rig. I think though I might actually keep my current rig and just get rid of the Sempron build. Maybe disassemble it and sell off the parts individually on eBay or to the local PC shop so they can refurbish and clean 'em up. Which works out because I still have the boxes and manuals for all my parts :)
I'm waiting to see what happens with AMD3 though. If it's on Socket 939 or AM2 I can keep most of my stuff and save some heartache over getting rid of my stuff. I'm hoping to atleast keep my PSU, my video(for a while atleast), my harddrive, and my soundcard(awesome quality.)
