I haven't been able to find an answer to my problem, I'm unsure if I even should be able to do it, hopefully someone can help !!
I have a slimline PS2, I have removed the lid, and am using homemade keys to trick the PS2 into thinking the lid has been closed
I boot to AR Max, start the media player, execute Cogswap.elf from my memory stick, and have successfully loaded a backup in the past (tourist trophy) this way
I can't seem to do it with any other games though
After running cogswap, I use GTA San Andreas which is larger than the backup I'm trying to run, it sees it as a PS2 DVD, I hit X, it loads for a bit then tells me to swap, but when I swap it for the backup disc and hit X, I just get a black screen with the lazer head unable to find the start of the disc
Should I be using DVD Loader or somthing? I've never used this before
I'm using Imation DVD-RW media, should that work, I does it need to be DVD-R?
Most Ps2s dont like RW discs & can't read them. I think you just got lucky with that one game if it was on an RW as well. Plus they aint too kind on your laser even if your PS2 can read them. And as for Imation, they suck anyway.
Use good quality 8x speed DVD-R, such as RITEK G05, TDK, Verbatim, burn at 1/2 the discs max speed (ie 4x on an 8x disc) and you'll get far more success.
