Apologies if this is the incorrect forum for this issue, but I'm a new bie to all this and I'm not at all sure if the problem is with my AVI burner, my AVIs or my DVD player. My problem is:

For some reason, when I play DVDs burned from DivX/AVI on my Sony RDR GX7 DVD Recorder/Player they are clipped on the left and right hand sides. I've tried changing the wide mode on my TV and the default screen ratio on my player and I still can't see the left/right-hand side of the video. This is regardless of whether I burn as 4:3 or 16:9, NTSC or PAL. This is also regardless of whether I'm using Nero, WinAVI or ConvertXtoDVD!

When I play the same DVD on my computer using a software player, however, the video is not clipped and I can see everything. Please advise on what might be causing my player to clip the video and if there is there is a fix? Is this an encoding problem?

TIA...
