Need advice.. I have purchased and backed up many DVDs but have come across a problem with some recent disk I purchased from Meritline. With their 2x dvd-r disks...or atleast this package of disks... everything goes according to plan..till the end.. when Nero pops up with failure to write... and it is at the Lead out faze. After this happening several times I made arrangements to return and have them replaced. but last night tried them out on my player.. and all seems to work fine... movie, extras
I already got burned by a batch of Ritek I received from them... that failed 3/4 the way through burning.. but had prepurchased them before needing them and the time factor for returns was past due. There were 25 disks that were wasted.
My question is has anyone come across the Lead Out error...and it still work or do you feel these disks are also defective???? Thank you for your input before hand... 50 disks are not cheap just to sit around.

Download Nero CD Speed and test the discs. It is free. This will show you whether you can creat a disc without faults. Post your results along with the media you used in the DVD-R Media forum for others to view.

I am a little confused as to how to use this... I did a test on a disk that was sucessful saved the results as you suggested, Did a test on a failed recording... save the results..
Tried to test an unwritten disk to see if it were ok... and to me looks like I can not perform the test unless I write something to it.

Basically, you are going to have to burn a disc. When you burn it, there will be a graph showing to lines. If both these lines are not relatively straight and do not reach the end, then you have faulty media. You could have bought a bad batch.

Ok, thank you... on both of the ones I tested... the green went straight across... with the yellow dipping... I will test a dvd from ones that I had no problem with at all and see the difference..
I appreciate your help..again thank you..

That sounds fine to me. the green line is the most important. If it wavers (like a Richter Scale) then it may be faulty. It sounds like the media is ok to me.
