I've only got a 56K connection and I've just started downloading a large (450MB) file with eMule. I've downloaded large files at 56K before, it takes a long time but I'm a patient man. What worries me this time is that the 'Transferred' total is less than the 'Complete' total, at the moment it?s 6.83MB and 6.91MB respectively. This sounds wrong to me. Does anyone know if the file is likely to be corrupt when it finishes or if it won?t finish? Any doubts and I?ll start again as I don?t want to spend a lot of time, probably a few days, downloading rubbish and I have only just begun.
eMule rocks, i have broadband and some files, like the size you mentioned above takes some time to download for me as well. First of all, your connection speed plays a significant part when it comes to length of time it takes to download the file. The other factor is wether the people who have the file are online, alongside that is how many of them. You have to be patient, hell, leave your pc running constantly and turn off everything else (monitor, speakers, printer).
You?re right about eMule, it?s definitely the best for software and any other large files. What?s worrying me isn?t the time it takes but the fact that it has completed more than it has transferred and that doesn?t sound right. Right now it says it has completed 91.82MB but only transferred 88.34MB so the discrepancy is getting steadily worse. The amount left agrees with the total complete and not the total transferred. I?m going to let it finish but I have a sick feeling it will fall over when it?s time to put the parts together. Still, there?s only one way to find out.
you know, if you look in the very bottom corner of the application, lets say you download a new file, after clicking on the new file it will read "attempting to download blah, blah, blah" but my point is that in that exact spot it will tell you if any of your files which you are currently downloading are currupted. i am currently downloading a file that is practically done for the exception of a particular part which is corrupted. i found that out by clicking on that bottom right corner. keep an eye on it.
It?s getting worse. My large file has now completed 9.25MB more than it has transferred. I?m also downloading a smaller file which is doing the same thing. The small file is only 24.73MB and has transferred 9.44MB and completed 17.80MB, the difference is a third of the file size. Help/advice needed from an eMule ace. Dela where are you?
Also nothing useful yet in the bottom left corner, just who I?m connected to.
It?s OK I know what to do. Obvious really. I?ll pause the large file and let the small one complete. If the small one is bad the large one almost certainly will be to and I can cancel it. If it?s good I?ll continue the large one. I?d still like to know why this is happening. I?ve never noticed it before.
eMule/eDonkey/overnet, those kinda programs, say somewhere that all the values and such are approximate.... hence your downloads will probably overshoot by a couple percent
