so i'm thinking of switching from xp to mac...
i know most of these questions are already answered throughout this forum but i'de like them all answered specificly for what i'm asking and in one place, so here it goes...

I currently use a gateway, pentium d dual core processor @ 2.8 ghz with 1gb ram

what i use my computer for is office programs (word, excel, etc...), music, photos, google earth and the internet... really nothing else.
i think at this point, for what i use my computer to do, i have a bit of overkill (except for fast program start times.
would i notice a difference in performance with a macbook 1.83ghz duo with 512mb ram?

also, i just bought a toshiba gigabeat, i've read that they're not compatable with apple. With the new intel chips, does that change? is there possible any way around that? maybe just using it as a hard drive and drag & drop?

is there anything else i should consider.
well, thanks for the input and again, i'm sorry for posting questions that have already been answered.

the toshiba gigabeat isn't mac compatible but dont threat mac is still pretty good for photos and for internet and even open source applications

and even better with a new mac book you can run windows using bootcamp and windows runs awesome using boot camp a lot more stable then the ibm computer you have now
i would think about getting a mac go and ask at your local mac store they can answer all of your questions and show you what a mac book can really do

and for information about bootcamp beta check out www.apple.com/bootcamp
