How 2 Get rid of "Butterfly-Like Watermark" on mpg videos?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how what i need to do to get rid of the "butterfly-like" watermark that floats all over my mpg videos? I know its being caused by a codec,but the problem is that I dont know which one? Anyone have a clue which one it is that is causing this? Also tell me what I need to do to get rid of it? Or point me in the direction of a codec that will play vcd and svcd videos that does not contain such an annoying watermark.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanx
