43 is good. it is when running in the 60's that is bad.

Hi guys,
Yes my new E6400 runs about that (low 40's).
I'm actually fairly impressed with the stock Intel cooler - they're not going to put Zalman out of business, but this cooler could've been made by them. It's a radial design and works well, sending air swirling in a large circle including the area all around the CPU :^)
The mounting (to motherboard) seems a bit flimsy though, compared to AMD...
But I clicked my 4 little plastic push-pins through the mobo holes and it has not fallen off yet, LoL - but it is not real strong.
What are you running mrcapdown, Conroe or Allendale?
Note: CPU-Z v/1.36 is required to ID these new Core2 systems...

The very newest CPU fans have 4 pins, to allow fan speed control through hardware and/or software, but he may have 3-pin.
The BIOS setup probably has fan speed control and throttling enabled by default, you gotta turn that stuff off if you want full fan speeds!
I turned off several 'layers' of power management, with this new rig - it's in BIOS, it's in the chipset, it's in the OS... yeesh.
Very sophisticated but also very complex, and can be challenging to sort out. Almost too easy to simply disable it all though, as it offers some potential benefits in noise, heat and power-saving - so I'm gonna sort it out in my new BIOS.
But I first disabled it all quickly (for the build), maybe you should too :^)
Or at least, be aware...
