i just overclocked my graphics card(nvidia geforce 6600 256mb agp). i used the built in overclocking utility & the default clocks were: Core Clock = 300MHz overclocked to 380MHz Memory Clock = 400MHz overclocked to 491MHz. this is my first time overclocking & am looking for some advice.. should i try & put the clocks higher? i moved the clocks up 5MHz at a time & it didnt stutter once.. should i keep going? it says in the overclocking utility that if your card cant handle the clock speeds im trying to use, the computer will stop responding & i will have to reboot & it will restore the default settings.. is this true? will i need to create a backup of the cards bios? if so, how? also ive heard of flashing the card, how do you do this? & is flashing only for when the card goes bad? i would really appreciate some help here. THANKS

use the program ati tool to check for artifacts as you can keep on overlocking, but it might look like crap. If you get no artifacts, then keep on going but check yuor temps. You don't want to overheat your card.

Regardless of how high you go, get a copy of 3dmark downloaded and test the card before overclocking and then after each stage to see if you are actually getting performance increases with the clock increases.
You will get to a point where the speed increases do not result in performance increases, so make sure any extra stress you put on the card is worth it.
I presume your overclock tool installed the coolbits registry hack to allow overclocking.
You should be able to run the automatic overclock tool to see what that gives you, chances are going too much higher will end up in errors.
Also keep an eye on the temps!
