Hi guys.

This is my first time in this subforum. Quick question: I wanted today to burn an audio CD with Nero 6.6 enterprise Edition and I got this error for the very first time "Power calibration error" or something like that.
I hereby add printscreens of the error and of the media I'm using, could it be due to a crappy media? I burnt a DVD later on and had no trouble...
any idea how to fix this problem or at least override this function of Nero?

@ k0k0m0,

Yes this error is due to either Media or u burner is dying, since u burned a dvd it has to be the media.
also more than likely when u get this error it is due to the media not ur burner dying.
there is a sticky about this error, but i cant seem to find it

Hi k0k0m0
I agree w/ 30 bowler - sounds more like the media is causing this.
A firmware update may help if your drive isn't up to date. The latest one is 160E.
In InfoTool click on the drive tab - the firmware version will be listed there. Here's a link if you need to update it:

Try taking the burn speed down to 24x or lower on those cd's - see if that helps.

Better cd's to try would be made in Japan Maxell or Fuji.

Thanks for your assistance guys. I was not aware that crappy media could forbid recording... I knew that it could produce bad output, but not straightly impeding it.

By the way, my burner is RPC-1, will I still be able to get a firmware update? I thought I couldn't once it's zone free

I logged in on March 1st 2005, and it's incredible to believe that in so short time I've learnt all that I know about DVDs from this forum...

Yep k0k0m0 bad media - cd or dvd - can def. cause burn failures.
Hmm since you have patched firmware for the region free not sure about the firmware update.
It's almost 2 years old so may not even make a diff on the discs.
