Anyone have problems after installing Norton 2006, like slower downloads, web pages that don't display fully, web sites that won't load without clicking "refresh"? Installed applications seem to be working properly.

I get that all the time from Norton's users, especially the slowness. I think the web proxy is primarily responsible for that, but the resident AV slows things down too. The "parental control" also slows down DNS lookups.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Norton is very intrusive and a resource killer. That's why I switched to AVG.

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

Yeah, Norton tries to eat your resources as much as possible. :)
AVG is neat, has also a free version; I use it too.

I use Norton (2005 though) and don't seem to experience any off this...Could be your browser? When this is happening look at your processes by press ctrl+alt+delete and process tab, see how much memory and CPU is being used by norton and other things

It's a big problem for lots (most?) people. I'm trying to move my clients away from it; some have figured it out long ago but Symantec, unfortunately, does have a hold in the corporate world. It is a resource-killer, but the really bad part is that it frequently misses detections, inconsistently. It tends (in my experience) to be less of a problem for non-IE browser users, because it's content filters and proxy is geared towards IE, but it can slow down any system markedly.
