I just bought the above drive and am running windows XP. When I open "My Computer" it sees the drive as DVD-R but the drivers seem to be up to date. The main issue though is that I am able to read and burn CD's but am able to do neither with DVD's. It won;t even read a store bought DVD movie. Could someone please help.

If you're drivers are up-to-date, then it sounds like it could be a Drive problem. Bring it back to the store you purchased it from and ask for a replacement. If the replacement does not work, then something is wrong with your computer.

Well, I am pretty sure my drivers are up to date. I think I have firmware v1.30. Is that correct??

1.40 is not the latest for the 105 but everyone is having nightmares with 1.41 , so I'd suggest either get the [official] 1.40 or go for the x12rip f/w that is available for a05/105

Possibly not [wrong that is] , I havent bothered l;ooking for a long time bro
I'd rather point ppl in the right direction than try n' tell them which is the best f/w..
Always a matter of opinion (still using the 1.31 X2 Ritek on my 104)
The latest for 105 is..after having a look is Pioneer DVR-105 v1.33 RPC-1 + 2xDVD-R + no rip limit for pressed DVD's
