thats not necessarily a psp file tho. thats a compatible file for the psp but theres not really any editing there either except for conversions.

then i think u should use pspbrew if u r dealing with fw in the downgrader u can extract files like data.psar thru pspbrew and etc etc

i hate to crush your hopes but more then likely its not going to happen. i already know the method you're thinking of and thats why sony implemented signed code. the second you modify a single byte of the file it immediately becomes unsigned and wont run.

lol, sorry mate, you may have some skills, but most newbies come here wanting to make a downgrader :) i appreciate that but, i would leave it to the pros like dark alex :), BTW what firmware are you downgrading?

i know u just said this but wanna clarify it a lil more. exploits are what make downgrades and things like homebrew possible. for homebrew on 1.5 it was the memstick swap that allowed us to boot homebrew. we have figured a new method of doing it but the exploit still exists. for 2.0 theres a tiff exploit which allows us to run unsigned code and downgrade. with 2.5 and 2.6 there is the GTA savegame exploit which also allows to downgrade and run homebrew.

i cant remember what exactly but i think the updated secutity in 2.71 compared to 2.7, had an exploit which allowed the decrypting of the firmware, and release of the 2.71 decryption tool and letting us emulate it in devhook, correct me if im wrong :p

When the downdater file is put in the memory stick, does it appear under the game folder?
