I've got a bit of media story to go with this:

First i got the Swap Magic and the DVDs i had weren't good enough and didn't seem to work. So i bought a pack of 5 Sony DVDs which seem to work 100% perfectly. After i ran out of those 5 i tried to use of the one that didn't work ealier some worked but had long loading times and sometimes i had trouble booting the disc(no skipping or stuttering). I ditched these and bought some Verbatim DVD-R 16x (Glossy Printable) discs. Now i still have most of these left but on basically all of the backups i've tried with these discs boot and load fine but sometimes the background music still stutters and skip and during cut-scenes and movies it will stutter sometimes for several minuets before continuing as normal. Also i think it only does this if its like a "in-game" cut-scene (the type that GTA games are made off) and will not do it if its like a "quailty" cut-scene (i hope you understand what i mean). I always burn at 4x and i don't believe its the PlayStation as i've tested it on on others with same result.

Also i have a Emprex burner (which i think isn't very good :S) could this be the problem?

I don't thinks its your burner, it might be the disc itself verbatims are good quality but you have the 16x so burn at 8x if that does work update your firmware to your burner.

I'm not so sure, i've the most up to date firmware for the burner but to be honest i still think its pretty rubbish, i'll try 8x but in the past when i tried 8x it would just fail the disc serveral times but i only tried that with the bad media i had so i guess it might be just that...will try 8x in the morning maybe keep you posted

Tried to burn at 8x and it only managed to get to 6.9x briefy, avarage of 2.4x. The disc will play but sutters for a while on boot and then stutters and skips in cut-scenes.

Anyone offer some other help?

buy some more of the sony disks, its seems obvious what the problem is.
ps2's can be fussy buggers when it comes down to choice of media, and yours dont like those verbs
its also said that they dont like x16 rated disks, although i havent used any myself

I can't really afford to get the Sony discs again. I paid over £1 a disc for those because i needed them in a hurry. Do you think it could be because they are Glossy? Also i think i'm going to burn at 2x and see if its any better...

Also i asked about the burner and its apprently crap.

I believe its the 16x now accutally, althought it could partly be the burner.

Also i think the disc are "degrading" with use? When i fist burn and "test" them afterwards they work perfectly all the time but after a week or twos "use" they are having trouble loading (espically free roaming games...Could it be the way they are being kept? I'm storing them in plastic sleves currently?
