Yea so I recently washed my Nano in the washing machine and I've been kicking myself ever since it happened. My nano works when it's plugged into the computer or the car but not by itself. I'm assuming the battery is damaged and cannot hold a charge. I went to the apple store and the guy seemed to believe it battery damage but that because it there was liquid damage (of any kind) the only option I have was to mail it in for a replacement. This will cost $189. He basically told me it was irrelevant that it still worked. I obviously shouldn't have told him what had happened but I figured they would figure it out anyway when it was sent away. Does anyone know if I have any other options at this point? It's still under warrently even though I invalidated it according to the conditions. Is there any way to get and install a new battery and is there a chance it would even work? Any advice/help on this matter would be great. Thanks!

You can do a quick search in google and you'll have loads of places to buy batteries. My main concern with just swapping out the battery is that there is *most likely* a problem with a circuit board as well, which is going to be hard to track down and fix.

You could also try going back to the Apple store and just saying the battery doesn't hold any charge anymore. I'm unsure if the iPod has a wettness detector in it [like cell phones have that thing that changes color when it gets wet]. From my experience they swap the iPod on the spot after seeing it doesn't work, and there arn't any direct signs of abuse [like a broken screen or a big dent]

Good luck.
