Am thinking of pursuing to buying MacBook. Both I think are Dual Core Intel based. Optical drive though differs super drive to multi drive which I believe supports DL burning.

Mac's pricing has always been on the high end. Any thoughts to go for Macbook or Pro ??

well there is a huge difference...for starters, the macbook doesn't really have a graphics card...it has integrated graphics, so if you want to load windows (or not) and game away, there is a drastic change from the MB and MBP.. MBP has an ati radeon x1600 in either 128 or 256MB cards. plus you can get up to 2GB of ram on the MBP where as the highest on the MB is 1GB. and theres a good difference in the cpus. so it all comes down to want your looking for in a laptop, how often you'll use it, does it have to be a laptop (portable uses), and whats your budget. if you are no gamer or hardcore graphic designer, video editer, photographer, and you just want a laptop for papers, internet, movies, college use type stuff then go Macbook..elsewise...macbook pro my friend :)

MacBook CPU: Intel Core Duo @ 1.83GHz or 2.0GHz
MacBook Pro CPU: Intel Core Duo @ 2.0GHz or 2.16GHz
Both support up to 2GB RAM

I suppose portability is good as its mobile. Not sure if HD is big enough to have XP to load.
Not a huge gamer though video/photo editing. With new OS Leopard out in 2007, I suppose Bootcamp will part of the OS. Cost for the Mac Notebook though seems a bit much or I am better off pursuing Mac desktop?? Bigger drive, more memory, dual boot not a problem and most importantly cost much lower than notebooks.
Mac's USB, same protocol as PC's?? Would a Ext. USB Devices such as HD, work on a Mac or does Mac USB have a different protocol?? Just purchased a Maxtor 250gb in a NextStar enclosure just over $140 for PC, cost effective. I could do the same for the Mac, add a ext. USB drive??

Just looking at different options as am I due for a new PC, figured why not a Mac, stable OS, good audio/video and all bundled software, not much viruses or too much spyware, much secure etc.

oh my bad, MB can hold up to 2GB as well. i did not know that... and yes they can handle a copy of xp. i put windows vista on my friend's MBP last weekend.
