iLO DVDR05 skipping problem during playback on other players

i got an ilo dvdr05 and i've been using it for a while now with Imation's DVD+RW discs, but sometimes after i record, there are parts missing in the video. for example, when i recorded "Charmed" last night, the full 1 hour, the dvd menu said the video was only about 36 minutes. so i tried playing it on all my other dvd players including on my computer, to see what the problem was

it turns out that during the playback, it skips a few seconds every now and then. so i decided to open up the .vob file manually with windows Media Player Classic in the Video_TS folder and it works fine! i also tried playing it on my iLO dvd recorder and it works fine.

my problem is, however, when i try to rip the dvd, it starts to rip for like until 1%, then it just stops and freezes. i don't know why and it's so frustrating!
if i remember correctly, the only other time this happened to me was when i tried to record "High School Musical"...

please, someone help me! i need to know how to rip this disc and how to prevent this from happenning again
