I have a DRU-700a. It always burned DVDs fine, and now suddenly it won't. I have tried everything: updating the firmware, updating Nero to the latest version, installing both system and Nero aspis over again, burned at slower speeds, but nothing works. The burn always stops at 3% and then gives me an illegal disc error.
Here is the log file:

Quote: Nero Version: 7.0.0.0
This first version of Nero7 contains a few bugs, uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this more stable version, 7.0.8.2 from here

Although your firmware is up to date your burner doesnt recognize your fuji discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)

You could also slow the burn to 4X

You have plenty of memory, but you have most of it being used up.
Quote: Physical memory : 1023MB (1048052kB)
Free physical memory: 315MB (323248kB)
You have enough left for Nero, but maybe one of those other many programs you have open is conflicting with Nero. Close out all not needed programs, and dont multi-task while burning.
You should also change your target size.
Quote: Last address to be written: 2288127 (508:28.27, 4468MB)
change it to custom 4300. Media trying to write to the very edge of the disc can cause failed burns as there isnt always that many MB left, and edge of disc is where media coverage gets spotty on some discs. Yes, yours failed at 3%, but this is something that you should change anyway.
From what i learned from binkie7, -R media doesnt usually list the media specifics in a Nero log like a +R does. You can have all 0000 in the media specifics on a -R and not be having problems.
The firmware is up to date for that sony.
If you got Fuji media with made in japan on the spindle, you would get Taiyo Yuden discs, and they are the best IMHO.
