DVD to avi - green screen after jobs finished?

Hi.

I'm trying to convert a DVD into .avi format to fit into one 700MB CDR.

I followed exactly the steps listed in this tutorial - http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2divx.cfm and everything went smoothly until the part which says "Second pass". I started the job, went to sleep and woke up to find that the movie was just a green screen with no sound for the entire duration of the film.

Has anyone experienced this before? Did I do something wrong?
