Playback of movies with AC3 Audio in it

I seem to be having an issue here. What I have is a range of movies on my hard drive encoded of course in XviD and DivX formats. Anyway, these come in 2 audio formats, one is AC3 and the other is MP3. The program I use to convert it to mpg is TMPGEnc and I use the KVCD template to cram it into one cd. When converting movies with mp3 audio in it, it works fine with playback on my dvd player. However, to convert movies with AC3 audio in it, I have to use VirtualDub to convert it into wav and then use that as the source of audio in tmpg. Anyway, I encode it into mpg and then burn it onto a cd via the kvcd template. However, when playing back the movie on my dvd player the audio seems to skip A LOT.

2 questions. 1: How do I fix it? 2: Is there an AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc [I know there's one for TMPGEnc Plus but I don't use that]?
