basically, can you easily write subtitles to a movie just by watching a movie then typing up the words as there said? if there isnt anything like that then can someone jut give me a link to some well worded search so i can at least find a starter post to learn this stuff.

try 'subtitle workshop' or 'media subtitler'. You'll be able to watch as you type. It's still rather time consuming in my (limited) experience, and I don't really know which program is the better one.
