is it possible to play dual layer discs on the ps2?

to backup a game that is larger that the standard 4.7gb can you use a dual layer disc to back it up, well the ps2 read the dual layer discs?

Of course it reads dual-layer discs, since there are a few original DVD9 games out there.
But you will need a modchip that supports dual-layer, or patch the image with a dual-layer patcher for older chips.
Swap Magic won't boot dual-layer though, if that's what you use as your boot method.

that's a shame why doesn't it boot dual layer discs they should fix that!

also, some modchips(such as DUO) won't play BACKUP Dual layer discs, only the originals
